9.4 What happens to volunteers who were not assigned to an offset group?

Individuals not assigned to the chance to use the offset were assigned to a group that will continue to receive SSDI benefits under the regular program rules. There will be no changes for them with respect to their benefits calculation—and they will not receive any special services—as a result of BOND. These Stage 2 control group members will not be involved in BOND (although a small number will be interviewed for the BOND evaluation three years after Stage 1 random assignment). Everyone who applied for the new BOND program in Stage 2 and was randomly assigned, regardless of which group they are assigned to, is a part of the evaluation and completed a baseline survey as part of the application process. They will also be interviewed for the BOND evaluation at various points in the future.
